《老外在中国》：在中国飞车

You may be asking yourself, why go through all of that trouble and expense? Why not just buy a new bike? One day, soon after it was finished, I took my Flying Pigeon to a sidewalk repair stop. The mechanic, who had never seen anything of the sort, looked it over carefully with obvious appreciation. He asked me several questions about it. He rode it. He showed it to his friends and colleagues nearby. He then asked me, "How much do you want for it?" We both looked at each other and laughed. 

你可能会问自己，为什么要找这么多麻烦，花这么多钱？干嘛不干脆买辆新车呢？车子弄好后的某天，我带着我的飞鸽去路边的一个小修车铺。修车的人从来没见过这样的车子，他上下打量着它，很显然他很欣赏我的车。他问了我很多关于车子的问题，还骑了上去，去跟附近的朋友和同事炫耀。后来，他问我：“你这辆车多少钱肯卖啊？”时，我俩就互相看着对方大笑不已。
