《老外在中国》：在中国飞车

I have always admired the bicycle. In many ways, I view it as the perfect device. Simple, environmentally friendly, relatively inexpensive, and much more. The way the well-oiled mechanism quietly links art and physics, the chain snaking through the drive train around and over the chain-rings, translating motivation into progress would merit anyone's admiration. Enduring peaks and sailing down valleys on my own steam, feeling every bump and rupture, nook and cranny, every strain and compression reminds me that the journey is as important as the destination. When I arrive somewhere on my bicycle, I feel I deserve to be there. 

我总是在赞美自行车。很多情况下，我都认为自行车是最方便的设备。它除了简单、健康、环保、相对较便宜外，还有很多优点。这辆涂满油的机器是艺术和物理的悄然结合，车链就像火车轮上的链条一样翻转着，释放成前进的驱动力，值得所有人钦佩。当我竭尽全力骑着自行车持久穿行在高山与峡谷之间，感受每一处地面的凸起和凹陷，背阴和裂缝时，我全身每一寸紧绷的肌肉都会提醒我，旅行的过程和目的地一样重要。每当我骑车到达了某个地方，我会觉得我已尽己所能，能够到达目的地是理所当然的。
